Information for students from other universities who wish to enroll at IU South Bend as guest students.
Guest students typically enroll for the summer or for a single Fall or Spring term but intend to transfer the course(s) back to their home institution. Permission for continued enrollment requires the approval of the Office of Admissions.
Students visiting from any other Indiana University campus should apply for a temporary inter-campus transfer; those seeking to transfer to IU South Bend on a permanent basis should apply for a permanent inter-campus transfer.
Steps for Guest Students
- Review admission requirements.
- Talk to your academic advisor at your home campus to identify courses you need. Your home institution makes the decision on how courses transfer. Most colleges and universities require that you earn at least a grade of “C” in a course for it to transfer.
Review course availability by visiting http://www.iusb.edu/~regr/schedulelanding.shtml.
- If you have applied to IU South Bend within the past 18 months or have enrolled in classes at IU South Bend (including ACP course work), DO NOT RE-APPLY. Instead, call the Office of Admissions at (574) 520-4839.
- If step 3 does not pertain to you, complete the on-line application . On the application information page you will be asked for your admission category. You are applying as a VISITING STUDENT, your intended academic objective is NON-DEGREE, your academic program is VISITING STUDENT, and your major is VISITING.
- Please note that submission of an on-line application requires payment of the application fee using a credit card at the time of submission. If you do not wish to apply on-line or use a credit card, you may print the application and mail it with a check for $45 payable to IU South Bend. On the paper application please list guest student as your admission status.
- Mail or fax (574-520-4834) a copy of your current transcript or your most recent grade report. Another option is to have the Office of the Registrar at your current college send a letter stating your cumulative GPA. If the desired course work requires prerequisites, we recommend you submit a copy of your current transcript.
After processing your application, the Office of Admissions will notify you in writing about your admission and the steps to register on-line.
