`This course for second year dental hygiene
students is a six day program
that will include basic knowledge of the following
topics related to local anesthetic injection:

Head and neck anatomy
-
Pharmacology
-
Pre-anesthesia patient assessment
-
Armamentarium preparation and care
-
Proper infection control and disposal of the needle and cartridge
-
Pain control and patient anxiety management
-
Prevention, recognition and management of complications related to local
anesthesia to patients
Course
includes 16 hours of didactic instruction and 16 hours of clinical
instruction.
