In partnership with Indiana University South Bend Extended Learning Services, the Michiana Paralegal Association is offering a one-day seminar for the area legal community, designed to increase awareness of new procedures, products and software that can help enhance the work performance of every legal professional.

Westlaw will provide our keynote speaker who will share what every legal professional must know about the New Rules for Electronic Discovery. In addition, eight break-out sessions will be offered covering a wide range of technology oriented topics, including ethics and technology, communication and practice management in a technical environment, and utilizing St. Joseph County Probate Court’s online filing system, Quest, as well as utilizing St. Joseph County Bankruptcy’s CM/ECF system. We have applied for CLE credit for each session, so that it will be possible to earn 5 hours of CLE in one day.

Learn about:

  • New Rules for E-discovery

  • Quest: Case Management for Probate

  • Ethics of E-communication

  • Case Management & Electronic Case Filing

  • Tech Solutions for Practice Management

Key Note Topics

keys to dealing with electronically stored information.

  • ESI:  what is it and where is it?  Step one is to know which questions to ask.

  • Can we do this ourselves or do we need help?  Dealing with ESI contractors.

  • Okay, we've received 50 gigabytes of data.  Now what do we do with it?

  • This is a little complicated.  What's going to happen next with electronic data?

Several vendors will display their products and services, and entertain any specific questions you may have regarding them. The vendors will be awarding some exceptional door prizes, including iPods, software and gift cards.
