Position at IU South Bend

Senior Lecturer in Spanish, Director of Language Resource Center


*John Davis was appointed as Lecturer in Spanish to start Fall 2001.  

        He was promoted to an IU Senior Lecturer in Spanish effective July 1, 2006.

*Mr. Davis has taught Spanish at IU South Bend since January 1999. Before that, he taught part-time at Purdue-North Central and Southwestern Michigan College and full-time at the University of Notre Dame.  He has received multiple teaching awards at IU South Bend including the Trustee's Teaching Award (2007).

 

*Mr. Davis fulfills an essential role on campus as Director of the Language Resource Center.  The Center serves not only all language students in the Department of World Language Studies but also international students in the English as a Second Language section and study abroad programs provided through the South Bend English Institute.  In addition, he administers and processes non-English language placement exams for IU South Bend.

*He knows about study abroad as well. He studied at the University of Barcelona in Spain and traveled to Mexico, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, France, England, Scotland, Italy and Portugal.

*Prof. Davis served as Resident Director in Cuernavaca, Mexico during Summer Session II, 2001, 2003, 2005 and will serve again in 2007.   Contact Prof. Davis if you are interested in studying in Cuernavaca!

*He is a member of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP), the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) and the Modern Language Association (MLA), and Phi Beta Delta.
