IU South Bend High School Mathematics Competition

The Department of Mathematical Sciences hosts an annual High School Mathematics Competition. Both individual and team examinations are given, each consisting of 30 multiple choice problems. Six problems are from each of the categories Algebra, Geometry, Precalculus and Calculus, and the remaining six are from any area and can span multiple categories. Each examination is 60 minutes long.

Awards are given to the top five individuals in each of the classes Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior. In addition, the top three individuals receive recognition.

Awards are also given to the top three teams in each class level. Teams consist of two or three students from the same class level.
