Poetry Jam Facilitator

We need a facilitator for the Poetry Jams and an editor for the anthology.

Facilitator* responsibilities

* recruit youth and community members to participate in the forum (i.e., Hosts to introduce the poets, to perform if they have poetry of their own, and to keep things moving; poets to perform their works; audience so the poets aren't talking to themselves)

* take care of the Host and poets to be sure they have what they need (such as a microphones, info about where the Jam takes place, etc.); give Host the Poetry Jam Review Sheet and other materials at the beginning of each Jam

* order and distribute Jam advertisements (flyers and posters) to high schools, community centers, colleges, social centers and gatherings

* order and collate research materials (surveys) prior to start of Jam. Distribute to the audience during the Jam.

* introduce the Host and context of the Jam (Generation X: Healing Racism and Sexism)

* maintain sign-in sheet so the Host can call on participants or, in the case of the Slam, organize selected poets and provide them with a line-up

* The Facilitator can also be the Host, if you have skills in both areas.
