    Ehrlich Service Award, 1999   Thousand Points of Light, 1994 Distinguished Service Award, City of Benton Harbor, Michigan, USA, 1987

 

The Ehrlich Award is given for exceptional record of service-learning activities combining practical interventions with academic scholarship to address social problems. Recipients must be community-based, linking theory and practice to address social problems. Each institution in an 11-member consortium nominates a project to represent them in the national competition. The SOCACT was the Indiana University nominee.

The Thousand Points of Light award is a presidential initiative for excellence in community development and service. The award recognizes voluntary action initiatives across the USA which are making a difference in the lives of ordinary people. The SOCACT was the Indiana University South Bend nominee and received an honorable mention.
