OFFICER PAUL R. DEGUCH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

PURPOSE * CRITERIA *  INFORMATION

The Officer Paul R. Deguch Memorial Scholarship Program is intended to benefit St. Joseph County residents who wish to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice.  Preference is given to worth applicants who are St. Joseph County law enforcement officers or their direct descendants. 

Applicants must:

  1. Be residents of St. Joseph County who meet with the criteria outlined below.  Preference will be given to law enforcement officers working in St. Joseph County, Indiana, or direct descendants of same.
  2. Be pursuing a degree in criminal justice at Indiana University South Bend.
  3. Students enrolling at IUSB for the first time must submit an official high school transcript and college transcript if applicable.
  4. Hold and maintain a minimum 2.5 semester grade point average.
  5. Submit completed application and required transcripts to the Indiana University South Bend School of Public and Environmental Affairs office by April 1 each year.  Applications will not be accepted at the St. Joseph County Police Department, South Bend. Late applications will not be accepted.

The award may be for up to $1,000.00, based on student need and available resources. Awards are to cover tuition and fees. The amount of the award shall be determined prior to the first award. Awards may be renewable for up to 4 years. Students must reapply each year in order to be eligible for possible renewal. Awards shall be based on academic performance and merit. Recipients shall be identified by Indiana University South Bend in accordance with the established guidelines.

Applications may be printed off here, or are available in the Indiana University South Bend offices of Admission, Financial Aid and Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. Applications are also available at the office of the St. Joseph County Police Department, South Bend, but must be submitted to Indiana University South Bend School of Public and Environmental Affairs.
