Former Sheriff Rick Seniff has extensive
leadership, supervisory, management and personnel training experience in
government and industry. Rick graduated
from Clay
High School in 1967. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served a tour
in Viet Nam where he earned the Navy Achievement Medal with Combat “V”
for distinguishing himself by his courage and composure under fire.
Rick joined the St. Joseph County Sheriff's
office and retired in 1994 at the rank of Captain and with 24 years
service. He was elected as Sheriff of St. Joseph County in 1998.
As Sheriff, Seniff had the opportunity to utilize his extensive law
enforcement experience and his knowledge of Organizational Management
and Leadership to implement Strategic Planning and create a Mission and
Vision statement oft he Department. He instituted new and creative
programs to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Sheriff's
office, and change the culture to reflect a more positive and
professional image.
Having completed his term as
Sheriff, Rick has returned to Purdue as part-time faculty in the
Organizational Leadership and Supervision Department and is also
a full-time instructor in the School of Public and Environmental
Affairs (SPEA) at Indiana University South Bend.
