IU SOUTH BEND CHANCELLOR MERIT AWARD


Chancellor Merit Award
The Chancellor Merit Award is available to undergraduate students that are not legal residents of the state of Indiana. The scholarship allows nonresidents to pay in-state fees. Criteria
The Chancellor's Merit Award is intended to promote the enrollment of high ability students. Up to 50 awards will be made to students who meet the criteria listed below:

Beginning Freshman
  • graduated from a U.S. high school outside the state of Indiana
  • completed a college preparatory curriculum with a "B" average or higher
  • score 1000 (combined Verbal/Critical Reading and Math scores) or higher on the SAT (21 or higher on the ACT)
or
  • have earned semifinalist or finalist status in the National Merit Scholarship competition
Transfer Students
  • transfer from a U.S. college outside the state of Indiana with at least 26 transferable credit hours and a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Note: Transfer students with fewer than 26 transferable credit hours will also be evaluated on their high school record and test scores.
or
  • have earned semifinalist or finalist status in the National Merit Scholarship competition
Current Students
  • Met the criteria listed above at the time of admission to IU South Bend
  • Maintaining satisfactory academic progress
  • Maintained full-time, continuous enrollment for the fall and spring semesters


Awards require full time enrollment with no break in enrollment (excluding summer terms). Satisfactory academic progress is required for renewal. Academic progress and course load is checked each semester to verify continued eligibility. Awards are limited to 4 years of enrollment and are not transferable to other Indiana University campuses.

Out-of-State Transfer Scholarship

The Out-of-State Transfer Scholarship is designed to ease the financial cost for out-of-state students who want to attend IU South Bend. Eligible students will receive a deduction of $100 per credit hour from the out-of-state tuition rate. For full-time students the savings can be up to $3,000.


To be eligible for the Out-of-State Transfer Scholarship you must submit both the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the IU South Bend Financial Aid application.
  • You must be paying out-of-state tuition and living outside the state of Indiana
  • You must have a 2.5 cumulative grade point average (CGPA)
  • You must have either an Associate Degree or 54 transferable credit hours
  • To maintain the scholarship you must maintain a 2.5 CGPA at IU South Bend and re-submit both the IU South Bend Financial Aid application and the FAFSA each year
  • Students may enroll part-time
  • Students who have already earned a baccalaureate degree are not eligible
  • This scholarship does not apply to graduate study
