The following courses fulfill nursing, allied health, or Division of Education requirements. All courses except T100 are open to all students.  Credit not allowed toward a biology major.

T100 - Biology for Elementary Teachers (4 cr.)  Principles of biology with discussions dealing with levels of biological organization, human systems, drugs and diversity of life.  Laboratory and/or demonstrations relate lecture material to practical problems of the classroom.  Does not satisfy the Biology requirement in the Division of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

P204 - Elementary Human Physiology (3-5 cr.)  R: An introductory biology course; a general chemistry course. Lectures on blood, circulation, respiration, digestion, metabolism, excretion, endocrine system, muscle, nerve, special senses.   Lecture only, 3 cr. Course taken by dental clinic students. (S)

A210 - Elementary Human Anatomy (3-5 cr.)   Introduction to basic structure of human body.  Lecture only, 3 cr.  Course taken by dental clinic students. (F)

M250 - Microbial Cell Biology (3 cr.)  R: An introductory biology course; a general chemistry course.  Introduction to microorganisms: cytology, nutrition, reproduction, and physiology.  Importance of microorganisms in infectious disease. Host defense mechanisms against disease. (F) (S) (SS)

M255 - Microbiology: Laboratory (2 cr.)   P or concurrent:  M250.  Exercises in the principles and techniques of microscopy, cultivation, identification and detection of microorganisms. (F) (S) (SS)

P261 - Human Anatomy and Physiology I (5 cr.)   Introduction to basic structure and function of the human body including laboratory studies in gross anatomy, histology, and physiology.  Topics are cellular anatomy and physiology, body tissues, and integument and the skeletal, muscle, endocrine, and nervous systems. (P261 can not be used as a Biology elective for biology majors). (F) (S) (SS)

P262 - Human Anatomy and Physiology II (5 cr.)  P: P261.  Second semester topics are the circulatory, respiratory, urinary, digestive, and reproductive systems; fluid and electrolyte balance; and acid-base balance. (P262 can be used as a Biology elective for biology majors). (F) (S) (SS)

L391 - Special Topics: Aquatic Ecology (3 cr.)  A course exploring the biology and chemistry of freshwater ecosystems and the stresses imposed on them by our modern world. This course will have a heavy field work orientation and will encourage students to ask their own questions and answer them using the techniques learned in class. (SS)
