What undergraduate degrees do you offer in business?
Students can complete an Associate of Science in Business (two-year degree) and Bachelor of Science in Business (four-year degree) with concentrations in Accounting , Advertising , Banking , Finance , General Business , Human Resource Management , International Business , Management Information Systems (MIS) , Marketing , and Small Business and Entrepreneurship .
Is your business program accredited?
Yes, the business program at IUSB is accredited by the AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. This accreditation assures prospective students that they will be attending a business school that is in the upper one-fourth of all business schools in the United States.
How many credit hours are required to obtain a degree?
The minimum is 60 credit hours for the Associate of Science in Business degree and 123 for the Bachelor of Science in Business degree. Some students may require more depending on if they select a double major, choose a minor or if the student has taken any unnecessary courses. For more information on degree requirements, Click Here
Can I apply IUSB Associate Degree courses and credits towards a Bachelors Degree in Business & Economics?
Yes, you can apply the courses you took to earn your Associate degree to the requirements for a bachelor's degree. We strongly suggest that you check with an advisor to make sure that the courses you took previously meet the current program requirements.
What student business organizations can I get involved with?

What honorary societies can I become a member of?
Based on outstanding academic performance, students can become members of Beta Gamma Sigma, the honorary business society; Omicron Delta Epsilon, the honorary economics society; and National Honors Society of the Financial Management Association, the honorary finance society. Students are notified if they are eligible for membership into these societies.

What is the Pre-Business Department and when can I transfer to Pre-Business?
The Pre-Business Department is for students who have sophomore or higher standing, have a cumulative grade point average of C (2.0) or higher, and are working on the pre-admission requirements to be admitted to the "upper division" business program. If you meet these requirements, contact your current department and request that your records be transferred to the Pre-Business Department. For more information on admission requirements, Click Here
What must I do to be admitted to the Upper Division Business Program?
Students who are eligible for admission to the Upper Division Business Program must have a minimum of 56 credit hours counting toward graduation on the college level at IUSB or elsewhere; have earned a minimum cumulative grade point average of C (2.0) over all courses taken (averages are computed on the basis of all course enrollments in which grades were awarded; all WF and FX grades will be counted as F in determining the grade point average); and have completed the following courses either at IUSB or elsewhere with a minimum grade point average of C (2.0) and a minimum grade of C in any of the courses marked with an asterisk: Bus A201*, Bus A202*, Bus K201*, Bus L201* or L203*, Econ E103*, Econ E104*, Econ E270*, Eng W131*, Eng W231*, Spch S121, Psy P103, Soc S161, Math M118 and Math M119. Can I transfer credit from courses taken at other colleges / universities and apply those courses toward a degree at IUSB?
Relevant course credit may be transferable. The Admissions Office is responsible for evaluating all undergraduate transcripts from other colleges and universities. After this evaluation is completed, all transfer credits must be reviewed and approved by Business & Economics advisors and faculty. Can I obtain a business degree just by attending evening classes?
Yes, students can obtain the business degree just by attending classes in the evening. It is advisable that students meet with their academic advisor to find out about the offering of the concentration courses, since some are only offered once a year in the evening.
Am I required to see an academic advisor before I can register?
For students in good academic standing, advising is not required in order to register. All students are encouraged to see an advisor if they have questions and/or scheduling problems. Students on academic probation must see an advisor prior to registration each semester. For more information on advising, Click Here
If I repeat a course, what grade is used to calculate my GPA?
If you repeat a course, both grades are used to compute your grade point average.
What if I want to take a course and I do not have the prerequisite?
If you do not have a prerequisite for a course, then you will not be able to enroll in it. Prerequisites are not waived.
When must I file my application for graduation?
Candidates for the BS and AS in Business must file a graduation application by October 1 if they are graduating in December or by February 1 if they are graduating in May or August. Degree application forms are available at the Undergraduate Business Office (Adm. Bldg. 207). Unless the application has been completed and submitted to the School, the student's academic records will not be audited for degree certification. It is advisable that you meet with an advisor to complete a degree audit prior to submitting the graduation application.
How will I find a job when I graduate?
Office of Career Services provides a full range of career services such as resume preparation, interview workshops, campus interviews, listing of career opportunities, etc. Students are encouraged to work with Office of Career Services throughout their college career, and should establish a credential file with this office. Am I required to have a minor?
Students majoring in the business program may have a minor outside business to supplement their program, but are not required to.
What are "upper division" business courses, and when can I take them?
Upper division business courses are numbered 300 and higher. In order to take an upper level business course, you be admitted to the upper level business program. For more information on enrollment in 300 / 400 level classes, Click Here
How do I change my major?
Obtain and complete a Change of Major Form in the Undergraduate Business Office (Adm. Bldg. 207B).
