Bi-Weekly Staff Council
Bi-Weekly Staff Council “provides a medium for communication among administration, faculty and staff employees at IU South Bend. The Council also represents bi-weekly and hourly employees who have problems, solutions to problems, or recommendations for change. The Council acts as a liaison between the employee and the appropriate campus department(s).” (Our Purpose, quoted from our bylaws.)
BWSC meets for one hour, once a month (currently at 8:30 a.m. on the last Friday of each month). Each meeting has an educational component – there is a guest speaker at each meeting to inform members of policies, budget news, and operations of his/her respective area. Council members have participated in activities such as the Union of Students with Disabilities wheelchair basketball game, Tough Stuff Recycling, and Rebuild Together, and have assisted with staff recognition events. BWSC also has representation on campus committees, including Sustainability, Budget, Strategic Planning, and Campus Directions.
