Mission Statement
The mission of the Department of Chemistry at Indiana University South Bend is to provide a stimulating and supportive environment for the discovery, integration, and communication of chemistry. We prepare students for rewarding careers in the chemical sciences by providing a high quality education, developing practical laboratory skills, and providing opportunities for scholarly research. This environment of intellectual inquiry and professional growth is supported by the faculty’s commitment to teaching, research and service, and is underscored by the American Chemical Society certification of our B.S. degree in Chemistry. In addition, we complement the mission of the University and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences by contributing to the scientific literacy, critical thinking skills and informed decision-making abilities of students from all majors.
