Emily Fickes took Extend Learning Services College Prep classes to give her more confidence in writing, math, and studying and to be comfortable with getting around on campus. Now Emily Fickes has been named an Indiana University Alumni Association Scholar for 2007-07. The award includes a $1,000 scholarship. Fickes is a junior in the nursing program at Indiana University South Bend and plans to pursue a career as a pediatric nurse.


Introduction to Algebra
This course is designed for students with satisfactory basic math skills but with no previous or recent experience in an algebra class. Course strengthens skills needed for college algebra while introducing the more abstract concepts necessary for any student to survive in today’s technological world.

Do you feel apprehensive and anxious when asked to capture your thoughts on paper? Learn to convey your ideas through clear, interesting and effective writing. Focus on writing principles through demonstrations and practice. Clear writing is a skill that can be mastered. This course will help prepare you for demands of college-level writing.
