the 2002/2003 Occupational Outlook Handbook, Medical Transcription
is among the 10 fastest growing occupations in the United States.
Medical transcriptionists
often work for hospitals, outpatient clinics, physician
offices, national transcription services
and other medical offices. MTs
listen to dictated recordings made by physicians and other health care
professionals and transcribe them into medical reports that eventually
become part of patients’ permanent files.
This web-based and highly interactive
program is facilitated by experts in the field. Students will gain a working
knowledge of medical terminology
and basic human anatomy as well as skill in the transcription of medical
reports.
