Dreaming Big/Starting Small ...Exploring the Road to Self Employment    NEW

As a college student, Bill Gates dreamed of creating software for computers and he created Microsoft. Oprah Winfrey dreamed of being on television and she created Harpo Productions. Greg Jaggers, the instructor of this class, dreamed of starting a business in his twenties and realized his dream of becoming successfully self-employed. Each of these people had a dream, believed in their ability to make their dream come true, and had the drive not to quit along the bumpy road to success.

What is your dream? This short course is designed to guide you through the process of exploring your options, abilities, potential, and the realities of being self-employed.

Instructor: Greg Jaggers, B.S., Ball State University; President, Tab of Michiana; 24 years experience as a small business owner

Weekend Workshop

Leadership and Spirit   NEW
Breathing New Vitality and Energy Into Individuals and Organizations.

An Intensive Weekend Workshop.

This course is designed to coach participants to become leaders from a different viewpoint than most popular philosophies—from within each participant. This course will explain how to leverage personal strengths, manage weaker areas, and create a leadership style maximizing a person’s own attributes. It is designed to trigger valuable insights for those new to the leadership role and those who have been leading others for years.

Participants will be introduced to the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership.

• Modeling the Way

• Challenging the Process

• Inspiring a Shared Vision

• Enabling Others to Act

• Encouraging the Heart

Learn to understand your strengths and weaknesses as a leader; apply the five practices of exemplary leadership to your current work, and develop real commitments and action plans for implementing change.

A leadership practices inventory will be administered and, using the results, participants will work on group projects as well as several interactive activities.

During this workshop, you will build on principles that will serve you in collaborating and building your own team, including creating and sharing a vision and getting agreement from other team members, focusing on processes and implementation, recruiting appropriate team players, and cultivating skills of fellow leaders and team players.

Instructor: Robert E. Bedford, M.A., University of Wisconsin; director of multicultural enhancement and the leadership academy, IU South Bend.
