GIVING TO IU SOUTH BEND

Indiana University South Bend plays an important part in the economic and cultural life of Michiana. Private support from our friends and alumni is critical for providing outstanding academic opportunities and learning experiences that define our campus and community.

EVENTS
Chad E. Pearson Memorial Scholarship
Valentine's Benefit Dinner, Dance and Silent Auction

The Chad E. Pearson Memorial Scholarship Valentine's Benefit Dinner, Dance and Silent Auction was a huge success. Over $25,000 was raised for this wonderful scholarship fund.

The Chad E. Pearson Memorial Scholarship Fund was started following the death of Larry and Glenda Pearson's only child. Chad was a junior at IU South Bend when he was tragically killed on a school trip in England.

The Scholarship benefits an IU South Bend junior each year.

All proceeds from the dinner, dance and silent auction benefit this fund.

Since 1994, the scholarship committee has awarded eleven scholarships to students whose achievements, talents, contributions, and potential are comparable to those manifested by Chad’s life. This year’s award recipient was Tim Zerbel. Tim served as a medic with the UN Peacekeeping Forces and treated children injured in the wars in the former Yugoslavia and Haiti. He is working on his undergraduate studies in Biology at IU South Bend in order to pursue his goal to become a surgeon.
