Outstanding training for tomorrow’s educators

The largest professional school at IU South Bend, the School of Education has a reputation for excellence and a rich tradition of graduating exceptional educators and counselors. The majority of K-12 teachers in Michiana are graduates of IU South Bend.

Our students complete undergraduate or graduate programs in:

  • Counseling and human services
  • Elementary education
  • Secondary education with certification in one of seven liberal arts disciplines
  • School Leadership
  • Special Education

Excellent faculty is at the core of our success. Professors are outstanding classroom educators who share a complete commitment to their students. The result is graduates who are extremely well prepared for the challenges of leading a K-12 classroom.

IU South Bend education and counseling programs are nationally accredited through NCATE and CACREP. We consistently meet and exceed Indiana state licensure requirements. In addition, we continually evaluate and work to expand our programs to meet the needs of a changing society. We are committed to graduating students who are in touch with the needs of students from diverse backgrounds and adept at overcoming all challenges to learning.

One of the strengths of the School of Education is our clinically-based classrooms that give students extended opportunities to observe actual K-12 classes and implement teaching techniques with children and teenagers.

At IU South Bend we are graduating educational and classroom leaders.
