| The Faculty Scholarship | |
| Amount to be awarded for 2008 is 2 $500.00 scholarships. This is a non-renewable scholarship but applicants may chose to re-apply annually. Open to Undergraduate and Graduate education majors taking over 6 credit hours per semester Preference given to students with a minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.5 Based on academic merit and need. Application Deadline: April 1, 2008 |

| The James Parent Scholarship Fund | |
| Amount to be awarded for 2008 is 500.00. Two scholarships will be awarded in 2008. This is a non-renewable scholarship but applicants may chose to re-apply annually. This scholarship is only available when Donations are received. Open to Undergraduate Education majors with a 3.5 cumulative GPA. Preference in awarding the scholarship will be given to education students who exemplify: Excellence in the classroom Commitment to leadership in working with youth Dedication in promoting the well-being of youth through arts, drama, sports and recreational programs Application Deadline: April 1, 2008 |

| The Joseph and Wilma Stoner Education Scholarship Fund | |
| Amount to be awarded for 2008 is $1000.00. This is a non-renewable scholarship but applicants may chose to re-apply annually Open to Undergraduate education majors enrolled in the Teacher Education Program with preference in awarding the scholarship given to education students who are: Enrolled in the Teacher Education Program at IUSB A single parent (through spousal death or divorce) Gainfully employed outside of the home a minimum of 15 hrs. per week. Students must have a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester to be eligible Application Deadline: April 1, 2008 |

| Wayne J. Krepel Scholarship | |
| This is a single $1000.00 scholarship or 2 $500.00 scholarships. The Scholarship will be given to students who meet all of the following criteria: Student must be enrolled in the School of Education as a Junior or Senior, with an interest in becoming a teacher; student has a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4-point scale; student must demonstrate financial need as reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); preference given to average students who display potential, leadership and commitment to teacher education. | Dr. Richmond E. Calvin Scholarship | |
|---|---|
| Dr. Richmond E. Calvin was a professor at Indiana University South Bend for 30 years until his retirement in 2002. He taught at the undergraduate and graduate level in the School of Education focusing primarily on the areas of School Administration, Teacher Education, and Counseling and Human Services. This scholarship was established to serve as a lasting reflection of his commitment to the educators of the future. Award Amount: $1000 per year ($500 per full-time semester) for tuition and required fees. Eligibility: This scholarship will support Black/African American sophomore, junior, or senior students at Indiana University South Bend pursuing an undergraduate degree in education with the intention of pursuing a career in education. Students can first apply during the Spring of their freshman year for support starting the Fall semester of their sophomore year. Award Criteria: Preference shall be given to full-time students. Students shall be selected for the award with primary consideration given to strong academic performance and secondary consideration given to financial need. Application Process: Candidates must submit the following items by April 1: 1. A completed scholarship application (attached). 2. Submission of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to U.S. Department of Education. Selection committee will access your Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) information through the Office of Financial Aid. 3. Transcript of college courses completed to date. 4. A 500 to 700 word essay discussing a)your career goals and your motivations for pursuing a degree in education; b) why you need the Dr. Richmond E. | Rutherford B. Porter Scholarship | |
| Amount to be awarded for 2008 is 500.00. Two scholarships will be awarded in 2008. This is a non-renewable scholarship but applicants may chose to re-apply annually. This scholarship is for both traditional and non-traditional (part-time) junior/senior or graduate students who have demonstrated academically a sincere commitment to the field of special education. Two annual $500.00 scholarships are available. The State generally sends IUSB information/ applications by March 1st. All applications are due by April 19. |

| The Miholic Loan | |
| The Miholich Loan fund was established to provide low interest financial assistance to a student in the special education teacher preparation program. The loan can be approved as needed through the appropriate committee in the School of Education. The loan is open to current and entering graduate and undergraduate students preparing to be licensed in some area of special education. Applicants must show promise for completing the program within three years. Click here for more information |

| The Minority Teacher and Special education Service Scholarship | |
| Amount to be awarded for 2008 is 1000.00 full-time enrollment or 500.00 for part-time enrollment. This is a renewable scholarship. Minority Teacher Scholarship was created by the 1988 Indiana General Assembly to address the critical shortage of Black and Hispanic teachers in Indiana. In 1990 the Indiana General Assembly amended the Minority program to include the field of Special Education, and in 1991 the fields of Occupational and Physical Therapy were added. To be eligible you must be: A minority student (defined as Black or Hispanic) seeking a teaching certification; or A student seeking a Special Education teaching certification; or A student seeking an Occupational or Physical Therapy certification. An Indiana resident and an US Citizen. Admitted to an eligible institution as a full time student or already attending as a full time student. Pursuing or intend to pursue a course of study that would enable the student upon graduation to teach in an accredited elementary or secondary school in Indiana. Complete and file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Not be in default on a State or Federally-funded Student loan. Meet all minimum criteria established by the Commission. In addition, students who are already enrolled in college, must have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.0 on a scale of 4.0 or the equivalent, or meet the minimum GPA requirements established at the college for its school of education, if it is higher. | IU South Bend Elkhart Center Scholarship | |

| This scholarship is for any undergraduate or graduate student who is a resident of Elkhart County and is pursuing a degree at IU South Bend. Preference is given to applicants who meet the following criteria: have a minimum 2.5 GPA; have financial need as determined by the FAFSA; and are enrolled in at least 6 credit hours each semester at the IU South Bend Elkhart Center. | AARP Foundation Women's Scholarship Program | |
| The AARP Foundation has announced a new scholarship program for low-income women 40+ to participate in education and training opportunities. Two of the eligible categories are: Women returning to the workforce after an extended absence (such as caregiving) and grandmothers or other relatives caring for relative children who depend upon them financially. Approximately 100 scholarships ranging from $500 to $5,000 are expected to be awarded in the first round. The process has begun (August 31st) and the deadline is October 31,2007. | Chad Edward Pearson Memorial Scholarship | |
| Applicants must be undergraduates who have completed 48 credit hours with a GPA of 3.3 or higher. Students must demonstrate a record of service and declare an intent to pursue a career in human services, public service, or education. Awards are $5000 annually and are given on a merit basis. | Clark Equipment Minority Scholarship | |
| The scholarship benefits students who, without the aid of this scholarship award, might not be able to obtain higher education. Preference is given to qualified IU South Bend minority students. Awards are need-based. Click here for more information |

| Helen F. Pope Memorial Scholarship | |
| This award encourages participation in the IU South Bend Civil Rights Heritage Center (CRHC). Preference is given to African American/Black, Hispanic, and female students. Undergraduate students with a minimum 2.5 GPA and graduate students with a 3.0 GPA and financial need may apply. Recipients will take a leadership role in a CRHC program each semester. | International Student Fee Remission Scholarship | |
| International Student Fee Remission Scholarships are available to highly qualified, non-immigrant, F-1 and J-1 international undergraduate and graduate students. To qualify for the scholarship, F-1 and J-1 students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, and demonstrate economic need. | This award is available to current and entering undergraduate students who have been out of high school for at least three years and enroll in at least 6 credit hours each semester. Grade point average and community service are considered. Financial need is considered but is not a determining factor. A personal statement is required. | Established to encourage the pursuit of education by all residents of Elkhart County. Applicants must be residents of Elkhart County for at least one year, be enrolled, pursuing a degree, and in good academic standing at IU South Bend. Application deadline is April 1. | IU South Bend Opportunity Scholarship | |
| The Opportunity Scholarship provides financial support for undergraduate and graduate students who, without the aid of this scholarship, would not be able to attend IU South Bend. Preference will be given to qualified minority students; African American first, and Hispanic second. |

| Lester C. Lamon Scholarship | |
| This scholarship is for any undergraduate or graduate student who demonstrates an understanding of the value of personal responsibility and commitment to community service through the Civil Rights Heritage Center. The scholarship is given to participants in the Civil Rights Heritage Center with a satisfactory academic performance as demonstrated by a minimum GPA of 2.8 on a 4-point scale for undergraduate students and a minimum GPA of 3.3 on a 4-point scale for graduate students. | Out-of-State Transfer Scholarship for Undergraduate Students | |
| This award provides a $100 per credit hour tuition scholarship to nonresident students who have earned an associate's degree or have a minimum of 54 transferable credit hours with a 2.5 grade point average (GPA). This scholarship can continue to be earned until a baccalaureate degree or 70 IU South Bend credit hours have been completed. Contact the Office of Admissions at (574) 520-4839 for more information. | Verizon Scholarship | |
| Available to students who complete their freshman year (at least 24 credit hours) in the SmartStart Program at IU South Bend's Elkhart Center. Students must declare a course of study, earn a GPA between 3.0 and 4.0, and enroll in at least two courses on the South Bend campus in the next fall semester.
