Montessori Teacher Academy Application
The Montessori Teacher Academy (MTA) was founded in 1989 to meet the growing demand for the teacher training necessary for certification as an early childhood (ages two and one-half to six years) Montessori teacher.
What is Special About the Montessori Teacher Academy?
- Training is conducted in a Montessori school, affording hands-on access and experience with the entire Montessori curriculum and all accompanying materials.
- Small class size assures each teacher-trainee personal attention and the opportunity to form lasting friendships and professional relationships.
- The excellent reputation and quality of programming of the MTA has attracted students from throughout the Midwest and as far away as Alaska and Great Britain.
How Do I Enroll?
To become a certified early childhood Montessori teacher, you must be formally admitted to the Montessori Teacher Academy by May 15 for the 2010-2011 academic session or to work towards AMS certification. Earlier application is strongly encouraged. Successful completion of the summer academic session, a nine-month student teaching practicum, and three weekend institutes during the 2010-2011 academic year earns certification.

- Public or private school primary teachers
- Child care professionals
- Anyone with a particular interest in or need for these topics
Social Studies for the Young Child
Learn to expand a child’s awareness of the world; design and develop a social studies curriculum and learn the philosophy and rationale for geography and social studies for the young child.
