Japanese
IU South Bend currently offers four years of study in the Japanese language and culture. Additionally, we also teach a summer course, EALC-E 271 in English on Japanese cultural traditions. Although WLS does not offer a degree in Japanese, we anticipate that the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will offer a minor in East Asian Languages and Cultures, beginning in fall 2009. A requirement of this minor will be four semesters of study in an Asian language.

Japanese Foreign Study Programs
The department anticipates offering a study abroad course in the near future, led by IU South Bend faculty, which would give students a chance to study and travel in Japan. Currently, students can study at Nanzan University in Nagoya on an IU administered program or in Tokyo on an IES program through IU.
Japanese Activities on Campus
IU South Bend has an active Japanese Club. Contact Yoshiko Green for more information.
