Spanish Activities on Campus

IU South Bend has an active Spanish Club and a Latino/Latina Student Union.

The Spanish Club is comprised of students interested in learning more about Hispanic cultures.  Membership is free and activities include restaurant and museum trips, film, dance lessons, and guest lectures.

The Latino/Latina Student Union is dedicated to the preservation and advancement of the Latinos and their culture in Michiana, and they serve as a support network for IU South Bend Latino student members and the community.

Study Abroad Programs In Spanish

**Cuernavaca, Mexico**

The IU South Bend Departments of World Languages and Sociology, in cooperation with the Office of International Programs, offer this unique opportunity to spend four weeks studying language, culture and society in Cuernavaca, Mexico. Students enroll in and receive credit for Spanish language and Sociology courses. Accommodations, including meals, are provided in homes of Mexican families. This experience is an invaluable way to learn about Mexican culture on a personal level and an important element in mastering Spanish. The courses are taught at the Universal Center for Language and Social Communication in Cuernavaca. For detailed information on the program and preparation to travel to Mexico, contact the Office of International Programs (520-4419). A video about the Cuernavaca Program is available in the LaRC, DW 1105, for viewing.

For more information on over sixty other study abroad offerings (in several languages) from Indiana University Bloomington, just click to visit the Indiana University Office of Overseas Study.

Students: all study abroad programs require approval through the Foreign Languages Department PRIOR to departing. Please be sure to get your approval sheet filed with the Department.
