The study of business helps you develop an understanding of the principles and practices involved in the management of business firms in today's dynamic economic, social, and political environment. Business students also examine the trends likely to shape tomorrow's global economy. School of Business and Economics, Indiana University South Bend, is accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

At IU South Bend, you can earn a bachelor's degree in business with a concentration in accounting, advertising, finance, human resource management, management information systems, management and administration, or marketing. The School also offers three graduate degrees: the Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Science in Accounting (MSA), and the Master of Science in Management of Information Technologies (MS-MIT). Our mission is “to offer high quality educational programs that provide functional knowledge, skills, and capabilities to a diverse student body and enable students to succeed in a dynamic business environment…”

 


Special Opportunities

Our entrepreneurship program acquaints students with the region's small-business sector. In addition to offering courses, the program also conducts a symposia series for the community and offers student advising to small-business clients.

The Lake City Bank Entrepreneurship Lecture Series , offered to undergraduate and master's students as well as members of the community, features many of our region's most successful entrepreneurs.

The NIBCO IT Management Seminar Series is a capstone seminar in the Master of Science in Management of Information Technologies program, and features our region's leading chief information officers in seminars developed in collaboration with faculty.

Faculty and students participate in a Student/Faculty Research Partners Program that investigates issues of interest to local entrepreneurs and small businesses.

Student groups include: Beta Gamma Sigma (the honorary business society), Omicron Delta Epsilon (the honorary economics society), International Honor Society of the Financial Management Association, Accounting Association, American Advertising Federation, American Marketing Association, Society for Human Resource Management, Economic Forum, and the Financial Management Association.

In addition, students have the chance to earn the following awards:

  • Excellence Award—given to one student in each of the concentration areas and the graduate program.
  • Indiana Association of Certified Public Accountants Inc. Award
  • Wall Street Journal Award
