What are the benefits of joining the program?

The IU South Bend Honors Program offers students several benefits:
  • Opportunity to receive Honors Scholarships
  • Enrollment in small, discussion-based Honors Courses
  • Research Opportunities
  • Possible attainment of the Honors Certificate—a designation of program completion on one's transcript
  • Advance Registration Privileges
  • Interaction with a supportive group of Honors peers
  • Participation in Honors social events
  • Use of the Honors Lounge (NS 100)

What scholarships are available to Honors Students?

A number of scholarships are available to members of the Honors Program:
  • The Honors Scholarship: By being accepted into the program, a student may receive an Honors Scholarship. This award is in the amount of $1,400 per year based on full-time enrollment and is renewable for up to four years if the student remains in good standing.
  • The Alumni Association Scholarship: This award, available to incoming freshmen only, is in the amount of $4,000 for the freshman year only. If the student remains in good standing in the Honors Program after her or his first year, the scholarship will be renewed as a $1,400 per year Honors Scholarship.   • The Honors Advisory Committee Scholarship: This scholarship, valued at varying amounts, is awarded by the Honors Advisory Committee in the spring semester of each year to credit students' accounts for the following fall semester.
