Phi Eta Sigma is a national honor society that encourages and rewards academic excellence. All first-year students who have earned a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale at the end of the first semester are eligible to join. Members are inducted by the Chapter Advisor, Dr. Frank Fujita, and the chapter officers during annual ceremonies held at Tippecanoe Place. The recognition brunch typically occurs in February or March.  Those initiated are members for life.  For more information, go to www.phietasigma.org.

The 2006 induction brunch occurred on Sunday, February 5, 2006, at Tippecanoe Place, 620 West Washington Avenue, South Bend, IN, 11:30 A.M. - 2:00 P.M.  The keynote speaker was Dr. Betsy Lucal, Associate Professor of Sociology and Anthropology.  The chapter officers who, in conjunction with the Chapter Advisor, Dr. Brenda E. Knowles, were in charge of the induction ceremony included:  Jared Ewald, the Chapter Senior Advisor; Chris Horvath, the Chapter President; and Amy Klatt, the Chapter Secretary/Treasurer.
