General Information

The Honors Scholarship (now $1,400 for the academic year for full-time students) is automatically renewable for the next academic year for those who have maintained at least a 3.5 cumulative IUSB GPA and have maintained a ratio of Honors coursework to total coursework of at least 1 to 7 or have improved their ratio of Honors coursework to total coursework from the previous semester. The same criteria apply to the Alumni Association Scholarship, which represents yet another type of Honors Scholarship.  (Note that the "Honors Scholarship" mentioned here differs from the "Honors Advisory Committee Scholarship" that the Honors Advisory Committee allocates in February or March each year.)

The criteria for retaining the Honors Program Scholarship include the following:

  • Maintenance of a 3.5 cumulative IUSB GPA

             and

  • Maintenance of a ratio of Honors coursework to total coursework of at least 1 to 7

             or

  • Improving one's ratio of Honors coursework to total coursework from the previous semester.

Failure to fulfill the conditions for the initial receipt of the Honors Scholarship or any of the conditions for subsequent renewals of the scholarship may result in the forfeiture of the scholarship and the cancellation of the financial credit previously applied to the students' accounts.

The Honors Program Scholarships are meant to subsidize students' completion of the Honors Program certificate.  Receipt of any type of IU South Bend Honors Scholarship therefore ethically obligates all scholarship holders to make a good-faith effort to earn the Honors Program certificate if they complete their baccalaureate degrees at Indiana University South Bend.
