We are living in the era of technology, which erases the boundaries between the countries and brings people of different nationalities together. In a society such as this, adopting a sense of respect to people who differ from ourselves is crucial. The importance of creating multi-cultural awareness on campus is the chief purpose of the International Student Organization (ISO).

The International Student Organization, a non-profit organization, was officially recognized in 1992 but had existed as an informal club for some time. International students, who number approximately 250, make up the largest part of the ISO. Therefore, one of the most important objectives of the organization is to give the international students at IUSB an opportunity to get together; sharing ideas and experiences about themselves and their cultures.

Officers of the International Student Organization (ISO) have worked on introducing the IUSB student body to the rich diversity on campus. They continue to give the opportunity for IUSB faculty, staff and students to learn more about the various cultures and customs by becoming members and participating in ISO events. We also encourage international students to participate in activities sponsored by other clubs and celebrate traditional holidays to get a feel for the culture of their adopted country. Through sharing our diverse cultures, we intend to encourage interaction between the students and the surrounding community.
