INTRODUCTION
This handbook is intended to provide a common sense approach for dealing with various health and safety issues that may occur on the IU South Bend campus. It should be noted that the handbook is only a quick reference. It meets many, but not all, requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, and National Fire Protection Association. For building specific plans see the building Emergency Action Plan available from your department contact and on the web.
Information blanks are provided in several sections and should be filled in immediately. Once the blanks are filled in and procedures reviewed, the handbook should be kept in a readily accessible location, preferably near the telephone.
