From the Editor

Welcome to the Indiana University South Bend Undergraduate Research Journal. The URJ strives to recognize IUSB undergraduates for their scholarly accomplishments, stimulate their future scholarly activity and provide an opportunity for them to present their work in a multi-disciplinary, refereed journal. The staff also hopes to facilitate faculty and undergraduate student interactions through the publication of student research as we move through the 2009-2010 school year — the URJ Staff.

The URJ is now taking submission papers for the 2009-10 school year. The URJ is a peer-reviewed journal highlighting the research done here at IUSB (see our About Page), and is a prestigious venue for publication. Please see our New Submissions page for instructions and requirements for next year's journal. PLEASE GET YOUR SUBMISSIONS IN EARLY!!

The research paper submitted must be accompanied by a Faculty Checklist to ensure that a mentor or instructor has viewed the paper and certifies that it conforms to the minimum requirements:

Contains original research or novel ideas on others’ research
Not a review paper
Research was done while student was attending IUSB
Would be considered interesting to a general audience

Now that the fall semester is underway, the Undergraduate Research Journal is looking to fill positions on the editorial board for the 2009-10 school year. If you have a good command of the English language, interest in editing and layout, love to proofread, are familiar with APA or MLA style, or simply want to be a part of the journal process, we need you!

Positions available are:

Referees
Copy Editors
Layout Editors

This is a great opportunity for students to network with other students / faculty, get involved with an IUSB Publication, and hone their english skills. English/History/Liberal Arts Majors should expecially be interested in editing, as most of the process is directly related to these fields.
