Types of Misconduct
The student code addresses three types of misconduct. They are:
Academic Misconduct
The university may discipline a student for academic misconduct which is defined as any activity which tends to undermine the academic integrity of the institution. Academic misconduct may involve human, hard-copy, or electronic resources. Policies of academic misconduct apply to all course-, department-, school-, and university-related activities; including field trips, conferences, performances, and sports activities off-campus, exams outside of a specific course structure (such as entrance exams or auditions, theses and master's exams, and doctoral qualifying exams and dissertations), and research work outside of a specific course structure (such as lab experiments, data collection, service learning, and collaborative research projects). Personal Misconduct on University Property
The university may discipline a student for the acts of personal misconduct that occur on university property including, but not limited to, academic and administration buildings, residence halls, athletic and recreational facilities, and other university-serviced property, such as sororities and fraternities. Personal Misconduct Not on University Property
The university may discipline a student for acts of personal misconduct that are not committed on university property if the acts arise from university activities that are being conducted off the university campus, or if the misconduct undermines the security of the university community or the integrity of the educational process, or poses a serious threat to self or others.
