IMS maintains outstanding facilities for both distance education instruction and videoconferencing. These facilities are available for scheduled classes and university-sponsored events.
Videoconferencing
Video conferencing often provides an effective alternative to meeting in person, particularly over long distances. Participants at multiple sites can see and hear each other on a large screen. For details of the facilities, see Distance Learning Classrooms.
For more information, contact Joe Haase at ext. 5558.
Distance Learning
Distance learning classes are originated and received here at IU South Bend using our on-campus videoconferencing facilities. For information about these programs, call Jacqueline Neuman , Director of Extended Learning Services at ext. 4167. For details of the facilities, see Distance Learning Classrooms.
Satellite Downlinks
IMS maintains downlink capability for satellite transmitted programming from IHETS, PBS, and others for curriculum enrichment, professional development, and conferencing.
Upon request, Media Services will tape satellite programming for later faculty use. Occasionally, live satellite programming can be made available in a limited number of classrooms and campus locations.
There is no charge to IU South Bend departments or organizations to downlink, but some programs may require a license fee. This is the responsibility of the requesting department or organization.
