Citing the sources you use is very important. Plagiarism
is very serious and can be disastrous to your academic career.
Not sure what is plagiarism? The Department of English at
IU South Bend has created a statement
on plagiarism which may be a useful guide. IU
Bloomington's Writing Tutorial Services has also created a
useful guide, complete with examples.
Not sure if you are plagiarizing by accident? CHECK
WITH YOUR PROFESSOR. He or she can work with you
BEFORE you turn in your paper to make sure
that you are citing all of your sources in the correct manner.
Need help citing sources in the correct style?
Try one of the following:
1. Visit the IU
South Bend Writing Center.
2. Use the MLA or APA style guides available at the Schurz
Library Reference Desk, or explore the online links to APA
and MLA style guides the Library has placed from the Reference
and Research page.
3. Try one of the citation services such as RefWorks
(web-based program that the Schurz Library subscribes to)
or downloadable software such as EndNote,
Reference
Manager or ProCite
(purchased by the IU Libraries).
4. IU Bloomington's Writing Tutorial Services has a web page
for citing in MLA
or APA
style.
