Counselors seek to help others. As trained professionals, counselors help people explore feelings, thoughts,
and concerns, to examine options, and to assist in achieving personal goals.
At IU South Bend, you can earn a Master of Science in counseling and human services. Our program provides
quality professional education to graduate students seeking counseling careers in education, mental health
services, business, and community or government agencies. The curriculum provides theoretical courses and
supervised professional experiences. Internship experiences are also offered for those seeking state
licensure.
Special Opportunities
Students can participate in the Annual Counseling Conference, which features a luncheon, speakers, and
discussion sessions. In addition, the Annual Networking Session is a chance for students to meet potential
employers, gather information about local mental health service providers, explore practicum and internship
possibilities, and gain information about employment opportunities.
