As an English major at IU South Bend, you will study English and American literature and culture, as well as
literary history, linguistics, and creative and professional writing. You will also develop skills in analyzing texts,
thinking critically, and writing for a diverse audience. Students in English choose to concentrate in either
literature or writing.

You'll have opportunities to meet important writers and scholars who come to campus to lecture, read from their own
work, or conduct workshops. A Writers' Workshop series is held each spring in conjunction with IU South Bend's student
