Admission
Getting started at Indiana University South Bend begins with a phone call. Just call (800) 321-7834. We will explain admission procedures and mail all application materials directly to you. Simply complete the application and return it to IU South Bend with your
$45.00 application fee.
The Elkhart Center can provide you with forms and help you with the
admission process.
Admission Counselor, Michael Renfrow has office hours at IU
South Bend Elkhart Center on Monday 2:00 to 6:00. Give

further information on gaining admission to IU South Bend.
On-Site Admission is scheduled for Tuesday, March 18, 4:00 to
6:00 pm. Bring a copy of your high school transcript or GED
scores.
Tuition
Tuition for all off-campus courses will be charged at the on-campus rate. Please
see IU South Bend web site for detailed information on tuition and
fees. Your fees can be mailed directly to the IU South Bend Cashier's Office or make your payment using OneStart. No
fees will be collected at off-campus sites.
Placement Testing
Before registering, all new students and transfer students with fewer than 26 credit hours must take placement exams in reading, English, and mathematics. The IU
South Bend Elkhart Center and Plymouth location administers
placement exams year round, free of charge. Registration
for placement test can be made on line. Test scores are used
by academic advisors to help you select classes appropriate to your
academic level. Placement testing information will be provided with
your admission letter.

Textbooks

Students who take only Plymouth classes will be able to purchase their textbooks the first night of class. Payments may be made by cash, check, or money order.
Students who take classes at the Elkhart Center can purchase books
at the Elkhart Center bookstore.

Academic Advising
All new students are to attend an orientation and advising session on the South Bend campus before beginning their first semester at IU South Bend. Continuing students may schedule an appointment with an advisor on the South Bend campus by calling the Admissions Office at (877) Go 2 IU South Bend, ext. 4839, or their academic advisor in the appropriate division.
Kerry Lawson is on site at the Elkhart Center to advise for
Undecided Arts and Science. Call (571-294-5550) and set
up an appointment.
Financial Aid
For Financial Aid and Tuition Management forms, call the Office of Off-Campus Programs or the IU South Bend Financial Aid Office at
800-321-7834, ext. 4357. It is advisable, because of the length of time required to process requests, to obtain forms as early as possible.

Registration
Students can register for classes online at onestart.iu.edu any time after their appointed time and during open registration.
