Credentials and Fee

  • Official or certified true copies of transcripts or academic record from all universities attended. Include evidence that you have earned a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. If the original record is not in English, be sure to include a certified (literal) translation. ***Scanned copies, Faxed Copies, and Photocopies NOT accepted*** 
  • Official TOEFL scores from ETS, official IELTS scores, or copy of completion certificates from The Language Company: South Bend or ELS Language Centers
  • Official GMAT score or GRE score from ETS if required.
  • Submit three letters of recommendation from professors or other colleagues. At least two of the letters should be from major professors. If you have worked for one year or more, two of the letters may be from your supervisors. All letters should be written on letterhead stationary.
  • Statement of purpose (300–500 words) commenting on such things as your academic background and educational objectives.
  • Documentation of financial support. U.S. immigration regulations require nonimmigrant international students to present proof of financial support for the time they are studying in the United States. Privately sponsored students must submit a letter from the sponsor stating the amount that will be provided as well as confirmation from the sponsor’s bank that sufficient funds are available to cover all study and living expenses for the first year of study. Government-sponsored students must submit an official letter from the government specifying the terms of the scholarship. Though we can review your application for admission without financial documentation, we will not be able to issue an I-20 or a DS-2019 before we have received verification that sufficient funds are available to support you while you are a student here at Indiana University South Bend.
  • Copy of passport identification page(s).  If you are already in the U.S. please also submit copies of current I-20, visa and I-94 card.
  • International Application for Admission. With $60 application fee (effective July 1, 2009) which may be paid:
    • ***Check*** or money order made payable to Indiana University or IU South Bend. Checks have to be in US funds from a US bank.  WE CAN NO LONGER ACCEPT CHECKS FROM FOREIGN BANKS.

***By sending a check for payment:***

  • You are authorizing Indiana University South Bend to use information from your check to make a one-time electronic debit from your account at the financial institution indicated on your check.
  • This electronic debit will be for the amount of the check and will post to your bank account within one day of receipt by us.
  • The canceled check will not be returned with your checking account statement.
  • If we cannot post the transaction electronically, you authorize us to present an image copy of your check for payment. You agree that if a third party submits a check on your behalf, the individual is your agent and they were provided with these disclosures.
