To maintain your F-1 and J-1 student visa status, it is extremely important that you follow U.S. federal regulations regarding employment. You must receive work authorization from the Office of International Student Services before accepting employment. Do not work without obtaining authorization from the Office of International Student Services
On-Campus Employment for F-1 and J-1 Students
During term time an F-1 or J-1 visa holder may work up to 20
hours a week with authorization from the Office of International
Student Services. Students may work up to 40 hours a week during vacations and summer breaks. International students work in a variety of offices on campus including, but not limited to, the following: Student One-Stop Center, Bookstore, Student Activities Center, Library, Dining Services, Children's Center, and student computer labs.

Off-Campus Employment Options for F-1 Students: Off- campus
Employment for international students is available in a variety of
formats.
Employment Options for J-1 Students:Academic Training (J-1 Employment - Before Completion of Your Program) Academic Training is authorized employment in your field of study for up to 18 months. Academic Training can be taken prior to or following the completion of a student's course of study. You may work part-time while classes are in session and full-time during vacation periods. The limit is 18 months or the time that you have been a full-time student, whichever is shorter.
