Insurance for Dependents

Spouses or children that accompany IU South Bend international students and scholars must be enrolled in the IU health insurance program or have equivalent insurance coverage for the duration of their stay in the United States. Minimum coverage must include:

• $50,000 for each illness or accident,
• $10,000 for medical evacuation
• $7,500 for repatriation of remains to the home country in case of death.
• Maternity benefits (including pregnancy, prenatal, and obstetric care) must be included.

University services may be denied if students do not show proof that dependents are fully insured.

To enroll dependents in the IU health insurance program please visit the Aetna Student Health online enrollment page.  Dependents are also required to be covered the same periods as the student.
