University Housing
IU South Bend does not have a residence hall system. Single international students can live in our
university-owned houses on the edge of campus.
The units are located in a safe residential neighborhood and are within walking distance of shopping areas, restaurants, recreation facilities, and banks.
Each house accommodates 3–4 students, so you will be sharing the
house with other international students. While the houses are furnished, you will need to supply your own dishes,
linens, etc. The rent includes utilities. On-campus rates effective August 1, 2007:
Air Conditioned Units are $385.00 per month, Non-Air Conditioned Units are $365.00 per month, Housing Application Fee is continuing at $25.00 per application and Housing Key Replacement will be $100.00 per key. Telephone set-up and charges are the student's responsibility. You are allowed to bring any additional furniture you feel you may need. IUSB does not provide housing for married students or couples.
For reservations for IUSB housing, students must make a security deposit equal to one monthly rent and agree to remain in University housing for at least one full semester--five months
and submit an application. The deposit will be returned at the end of your stay in University
housing, if the house is left in a clean condition.
Security deposits will not be refunded to students who leave their house in poor condition.
