Admission Requirements

International Students Studying in U.S.

-Minimum 2.0 Grade Point Avergae at current U.S. college or university
-Completion of IU South Bend equivalent English Composition class, minimum TOEFL score of 530 on the paper examination, 197 on the computer-based examination or 71 on the internet-based examination. In lieu of submitting a TOEFL score, we also accept a grade of C or better in a U.S. university English Composition class, an IELTS score of 5.6, completion of level 109 at The Language Company: South Bend or completion of Level 112 at ELS Language Centers.
-At least a 2.3 cumulative secondary school grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale, or a score of at least 520 on the General Educational Development (GED) test.
-Rank in upper half of secondary school class.
-Graduation from a U.S. or Canadian secondary school or comparable non-U.S.-style school.
-In general, we recommend that students complete college-preparatory course work that includes:
     -Eight semesters of English or the language of instruction
     -Six to eight semesters of mathematics.
     -Six semesters of social science (economics, government, history, psychology, or sociology)
     -Eight semesters of foreign language, fine arts, computer science, or technical skills.
     -Two semesters of health, physical education, or safety.
-The SAT requirement is waived for students who have completed their secondary schooling more than one year ago.
