New Student Resources
Welcome to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Advising Center!
Now that you are admitted, there are a few things you should do as soon as possible:
1. Set up your computer account (http://itaccounts.iu.edu/) and log onto OneStart (https://onestart.iu.edu/) to authenticate your ID and password. Information about this was included in your admission packet that contained a brochure describing OneStart, a system that provides convenient access to IU Web services for students, faculty, and staff. Also included in your admission letter was your Student ID number that you will need to set up your account. If you need assistance, please contact our IT Helpdesk at 574-520-5555 or at Wiekamp Hall, room 1245. The Helpdesk personnel will be happy to assist you in setting up your account.
2. Plan to take your necessary placement examinations (Math, Reading and English). To make reservations go to http://www.iusb.edu/~sbexams/
3. Set up an appointment for registration. Use your ID and password to log into the Student Advising Scheduling System (SASS) (https://www.iusb.edu/~lasi/sass/) or call our office at 574-520-4537 to set up an appointment for registration. At that time, we will talk about your plans, assist you in registering for classes, and answer questions concerning the IU South Bend orientation, general education requirements and degree requirements.
4. Make a reservation for a New Student Orientation. (http://www.iusb.edu/~sborient/reservations.shtml) Orientation is mandatory. A non-refundable fee is charged whether or not you attend orientation. Please make arrangements to register for classes before the orientation.
5. Transfer Students: Please make sure previous college transcripts are sent to the Admissions Office for evaluation. Transcripts must be official copies.
If you have a disability and need assistance, special arrangements can be made to accommodate most needs. Please contact Mary Nurenberg, Coordinator of Student Services, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, at (574) 520-4212. For hearing impaired, SPRINT provides services at 1-800-743-3333.
We look forward to working with you.
