IU South Bend Assessment Committee

Present: Mike Darnel, Julie Allee, Doug Agbetsiafa, Cheri Brown, Yi Cheng, Feng Shan, John McIntosh – ex officio
- Introduction of members – Mike Darnel introduced new member Yi Cheng
- Assessment Institute – The assessment committee budget will cover the cost of interested assessment committee members to attend the Assessment Institute. The committee will also offer to pay the registration costs of other interested faculty. However, because of travel expense restrictions, the committee may not be able to cover travel costs as well.
- Speaker for workshop – Trudy Banta, or one of the other workshop leaders from the Assessment Institute on the topic of Course Evaluations was suggested. We will try to schedule it around spring break time.
- Third Year Review preliminary feedback – Mike would like to standardize the feedback and comments given to Third Year Review programs. Rhonda will try to incorporate a simple review system into the e-port site being developed for the committee.
- Third Year Review Tea –Mike will try to obtain funding to do the Third Year Review tea again in January.
- Assessment Grants – Committee members were encouraged to look over the current grant guidelines in order to suggest improvements which clarify and codify the criteria used to make awards.
- Annual Reports – Cheri will develop a feedback form for annual reports, which can eventually be incorporated into e-port site. Programs scheduled for a Third Year Review this spring will receive feedback.
- Third Year Reviews – programs scheduled for a third year review in Spring of ’10 are:
- Undergraduate business
- Communication
- Counseling and Human Services
- All Education programs (grad and undergrad elementary, secondary and special, as well as School Leadership)
- General Studies – no annual report
- Liberal Studies – grad – no annual report
- Psychology – no annual report
- Public Affairs – grad – no annual report
- World Languages – no annual report
