Community Service:
New opportunities:
- Robinson Community Learning Center--tutoring for elementary and high
school students.
- Take Ten--anger management for juveniles. They are looking for
volunteers, primarily for whole academic semesters. If anyone wants more
information, visit the web site at
www.nd.edu/~rclc.
- Blood drive--good or bad idea?
Fund Raising:
- Hacienda Fiesta Give Back at Scottsdale Mall on Tuesday, Apr. 15. I am
still working on a date for a Monday or Wednesday; I will try for Wednesday. I
will get the coupons filled out and give them to Cindy, hopefully on Wednesday
morning. We need to get these distributed to friends, family, and students.
- Ana is looking into a Krispy Kreme fund raiser. She will have more
information in one to two weeks.
- I am looking into a Port-a-Pit fund raiser. I will have more information
in one to two weeks.
- Mike Wells is looking into a dunk tank for a possible fund raiser at IUSB
Fest. He will have more information in one to two weeks.
- If possible, we might need to come up with more ideas to have something at
IUSB Fest. Also, we need someone to look into what all is involved with
setting up a boot at IUSB Fest.
CJA Activities:
- Conference Guidelines--Jon, Ana, and I will be setting up guidelines for
attending conferences. Any suggestions are welcome; please notify Jon, Ana, or
myself with those suggestions. A rough draft will be presented in two to three
weeks.
- St. Joseph Co. Jail Tour--The question is not who is interested in going,
but WHO WILL BE GOING? We need to know by March 25 or 26 so that Ana can make
the proper final arrangements or cancel the tour.
- A big thanks to Ana for setting these tours up.
- Jon and Karly are still looking into guest speakers.
Business:
Jon and I will be speaking with the Sociology and Psychology Clubs to see if
there is interest in collaborations for future events with the CJA and Political
Science Club. More information will be presented in two weeks.
Member recruitment--we need ideas to promote our club to current students and
enrolling freshmen. Ideas presented so far are: recruit our friends and their
friends; inform and recruit at freshman orientation; and recruit at local high
schools--let's visit our alma maters and recruit people we know entering college
and their friends.

Due to the passing of Professor Susan Taylor's husband, it was decided that
the CJA should do something for Professor Taylor. The only suggestion that came
up at the time of this unfortunate news was to send a potted plant. If there are
other ideas, they will be greatly appreciated. We leave this matter to the
Wednesday meeting for more suggestions. We can either take money from the CJA
funds to pay for whatever gift we give, or each member should pitch in a couple
of dollars. Due to this trying time for Professor Taylor , we definitely need to
give her our support and understanding in her time of grieving.
