Scholarship Information
We are often asked by students about scholarship assistance from within the Department of Criminal Justice. We do have three scholarships that are awarded each year: The Walt Risler Memorial Scholarship; The Cadet Kelly Dulcet Memorial Scholarship; and the Officer Paul R. Deguch Memorial Scholarship. The first two scholarships are administered from within the department. The Deguch Memorial Scholarship is held and administered by the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County for IUSB Criminal Justice students; however, the department selects the recipient.
Each of these scholarships was established in the memory of individuals special to the department, IUSB, and the broader South Bend community. Dr. Walt Risler was a long-time and valued faculty member. Kelly Dulcet was an outstanding Criminal Justice student and Cadet with the South Bend Police Department, who died unexpentedly in 2007. Officer Paul R. Deguch was a South Bend Police Officer who was killed in the line of duty in 1997.
We encourage qualified students to consider applying for one of these scholarships.
