Dr. Chaney teaches Shakespearean drama, creative writing, and many other subjects. He also co-directs the London-Paris summer overseas study program with Professor Lesley Walker. His published research includes work on Shakespearean drama, Renaissance rhetoric, and eighteenth-century autobiography. His poetry has appeared in numerous magazines, including The Nation, Yankee, Crazyhorse, Beloit Poetry Journal, Black Warrior Review, and The Spoon River Poetry Review. Since 2002, Dr. Chaney has written radio commentaries for Michiana Chronicles, a series broadcast by WVPE Elkhart/South Bend, an NPR station. In 2007 the series was awarded the Edward R. Murrow Regional Award for Writing by the Radio-Television News Directors Association. In 2001, Chaney published a book of poetry translations, Heraldic Cries of Survival, by Peruvian poet Eleodoro J. Febres Arias. For a number of years he has chaired the Computer Culture Area of the Southwest/Texas Popular and American Culture Associations.
