Anne Magnan-Park

Anne Magnan-Park is the Director of the ESL Program at Indiana University South Bend. She earned her Ph.D. summa cum laude in English literature from the Université Rennes 2, France. Anne has taught ESL, French, and Anglophone and Francophone literature in three countries (France, USA, and New Zealand). She specializes in literary translation, 20th century Anglophone literature of the Pacific, Francophone literature, ESL, and more recently the cinema.

Anne is the recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship, an International Council for Canadian Studies Award, a Government of Canada Award, and a French Ministry of Education and Research Award for her work on the poetry of Malcolm Lowry. Her co-translation in French of Patricia Grace’s Electric City received a national translation grant from the Centre National du Livre (France).

Her post dissertation ventures derive from her interest in translinguitic and transcultural writers. Her current projects include a book project on Malcolm Lowry’s poetry, a book project on francophone translinguistic authors, the translation of two volumes of short stories by New Zealand author Patricia Grace (Small Holes in the Silence and Waiariki) with Dr. Jean Anderson, and a feature film based on the short stories of New Zealand author Alice Tawhai with film director Yvonne Mackay.
