(Defense Activity for Nontraditional Educational Support)

For students completing the AAGS or BGS degrees

General Studies Degree students may take DANTES exams in the General Studies office.  The cost per exam is $85.00, which includes:
  • $70.00 exam fee, payable to The Chauncey Group by credit card (VISA, MasterCard or American Express) or money order
  • $15.00 service fee, payable to IUSB General Studies by money order or check

Dantes exams are offered in the General Studies office in the following formats:

  • Paper and Pencil (Exams must be ordered three weeks prior to taking exam)
  • Online ($70 Exam fee must be paid with credit card online)

Thanks to the generous donations of students and alumni, we have placed study materials for the following exams on reserve at the IUSB Schurz Library.  You may find these resources helpful as supplements to your other study materials.  Likewise, if you would like to donate materials you have found helpful in preparing for a Dantes exam, we would be happy to add them to our collection for other students to use.

Test order forms are available in the reception area outside room A232; allow three weeks for receipt of exam.  You can also order on-line.  Orders are placed weekly; orders received by 5:00 pm on Thursday will be processed on Friday.  Test sessions can be scheduled by contacting the General Studies office at 520-4260.  Payment is due at the time of the exam.  Please be aware that receipt of exam scores can take up to six weeks; plan your needs accordingly.  It is not necessary to order online exams.

These exams are considered transfer credit.  The grade of S (Satisfactory) is recorded on your transcript; failures are not recorded.  Examinees must wait six months from the last test date to retake a failed exam.
