Matriculated at IU South Bend summer 2005 or before
Admitted into General Studies Degree Program September 1, 2006 or after
General Education Requirements
Students must complete one course with a grade of C (2.0) or higher in each of the following areas . Courses meeting general education requirements may also be used to fulfill distribution requirements.
I. FUNDAMENTAL LITERACIES
Students must complete one course from each of the following five areas.
Writing I
ENG-W 131 Elementary Composition or
ENG-W 140 Honors Elementary Composition
Writing II
Approved course or course designated as "LAS Second Level Writing" in the Schedule of Classes
Oral Communication
SPCH-S121 Public Speaking Recommended or other approved course option
Quantitative Reasoning
Approved course or as designated in the Schedule of Classes
Computer Literacy
Approved course or as designated in the Schedule of Classes
II. CONTEMPORARY SOCIAL VALUES
Students must complete one course from each of the following two areas.
World Cultures
Approved course or as designated in the Schedule of Classes
Diversity in U.S. Society
Approved course or as designated in the Schedule of Classes
III. GENERAL STUDIES
Students must complete each of the following courses.
Introduction to General Studies
EDUC-F 203 Must be completed either before admission or within the first 12 credits after admission to the General Studies Degree Program.
Senior Capstone Seminar
EDUC-F 401 Must be completed within the final semester prior to graduation.
