The Center for Global Education
Ghana WebQuest
INTRODUCTION:
Congratulations! Your government has named you its' Ambassador to Ghana! You will be making your first trip to this country within the week! Upon your return you will be asked to give a presentation about your new Ambassadorship to important members of your government. It is crucial that you be thorough and interesting. Many in your audience know very little about Ghana. So grab your passport and start learning!
TASK:
Your task is to compile the information you learn about Ghana into an organized and interesting multimedia presentation using either Hyperstudio or PowerPoint. Your presentation should contain a variety of audio visuals including photos, clipart, word art, and sample artifacts if possible. Be sure to organize your presentation into topic areas such as culture, geography, government, education, family, history, and economy. Your government would like to know how much it will cost to get to Ghana so be sure to include information about that as well!
PROCESS:
In order to complete your presentation you must first "travel" to Ghana. To do this without actually boarding a plane you will:
1. Visit web sites related to Ghana.
2. Interview someone from Ghana or someone who has studied Ghana if possible.
3. Visit your library resources for books and other materials related to Ghana.
4. Access various software programs such as Groliers Encyclopedia and the World Atlas.
RESOURCES:
In addition to hard copy books, videos, and CD ROM encyclopedia resources utilize the following web sites to learn about Ghana.
1. travel.yahoo.com/t/africa/ghana
7. ghanaweb.com/ghanahomepage/ghana.php
You may want to access other websites through a variety of search engines such as: aol, yahoo.com, ask.com etc... Remember, if you access a website through this page, use the "BACK" navigational button on the website to work your way back to this page! Don't forget to document every page at which you gained information or media.
CONCLUSION:
In addition to your presentation, you need to provide a 1/2 to 1 page (12 - 14 point type) review of your Ghana experience. What did you learn about Ghana that surprised you? What did you find the most interesting? What value does learning about other countries have for you? For students in general?
EVALUATION:
Your presentation and review will be evaluated based on the Rubric outlined on the next page. Click here to see this evaluation form. I suggest you print this page out for your own reference.
